Andreas Brandtner (geb. 1965) studierte Deutsche Philologie und Philosophie in Wien und München. Zudem absolvierte er Postgraduate-Ausbildungen zu Kulturmanagement, Kunstmanagement und Library and Information Studies in Wien und Salzburg. Er war tätig als Projektmanager an der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek (1997-2000), stellvertretender Leiter der Handschriftensammlung der Wienbibliothek im Rathaus (2000-2005), stellvertretender Leiter der Universitätsbibliothek Wien (2005-2010), Direktor der Universitätsbibliothek Mainz (2010-2018) und Direktor der Universitätsbibliothek der Freien Universität Berlin (2018-2024). He worked as a project manager at the Austrian National Library (1997-2000), deputy head of the manuscript collection of the Vienna Library in the Town Hall (2000-2005), deputy head of the Vienna University Library (2005-2010), director of the Mainz University Library (2010-2018) and Director of the University Library of the Free University of Berlin (2018-2024).
