Nikolaus Berger (geb. 1965) absolvierte einen Executive MBA (Master of Business Administration) an der WU (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien) und die Ausbildung zum Bibliothekar, Dokumentar und Informationsvermittler an der Universitätsbibliothek Wien und der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek. nach 8 Jahren an der juristischen Fakultätsbibliothek für Rechtswissenschaften der Universität Wien wechselte er in die Privatwirtschaft. In der internationalen Rechtsanwaltskanzlei Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer baute Berger zuerst Bibliotheken und Informationsvermittlungsstellen auf und später das Knowledge Management in Deutschland, Österreich und Zentralosteuropa. Als Director Knowledge Management wirkte er maßgeblich an den firmenweiten Strategien für die Bereiche Wissensmanagement und Bibliothekswesen mit und war vorstand des weltweiten Library Steering Committee. nach 15 Jahren internationaler Tätigkeit übernahm er 2008 die Verantwortung für die Reorganisation des Bibliothekssystems der WU und die Planung eines neuen Library & Learning Centers. Im Dezember 2009 übernahm Berger als Bibliotheksdirektor die Leitung der WU-Bibliothek. Er ist zusätzlich als Lektor und Unternehmensberater für Wissensmanagement tätig. Nikolaus Berger (born 1965) completed an Executive MBA (Master of Business Administration) at the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) and trained as a librarian, documentalist and information broker at the University Library of Vienna and the Austrian National Library. After 8 years at the law faculty library for jurisprudence at the University of Vienna, he switched to the private sector. In the international law firm Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer, Berger first set up libraries and information centers and later knowledge management in Germany, Austria and Central Eastern Europe. As Director Knowledge Management, he played a key role in the company-wide strategies for knowledge management and librarianship and was chairman of the worldwide Library Steering Committee. After 15 years of international work, in 2008 he took over responsibility for the reorganization of the library system at WU and the planning of a new Library & Learning Center. In December 2009, Berger took over management of the WU library as library director. He also works as a lecturer and management consultant for knowledge management.
